BTOB Music Show Wins

Charting itself in an the online music portal in South Korea is hard itself; how much more winning in broadcast shows? This is the story how BTOB had made its way to their first broadcast music show win.

BTOB debuted in March 21, 2012. The groups that debut that year were EXO, VIXX, B.A.P., to name a few. The three got famous and it seems like BTOB was left out. BTOB wasn't that famous in their first three years after debut. They had at least 6-7 mini albums during those times and only 'Wow' which was released in 2012 and 'Beep Beep' in 2014, had caught the attention of the public, but after that, they were gone again in the eyes of the public.

In 2015, Sungjae, the maknae of the group, got casted in the drama 'School 2015' and in variety shows, 'Masked Singer' and 'We got Married'. With his appearance on the drama and variety shows, he was able to get the public's attention and this became the turning point of BTOB where the fandom is growing little by little. In the same year, BTOB as well made a comeback with their first full album whose title track is a ballad -- 'It's Okay'. This was a first for the group to be able to release a ballad track and the risk was great. This title track was actually a gift from the CEO. 'It's Okay' became their very first track to hit #1 on digital charts.

On their first #1 charting, BTOB said, "We thought it was photoshopped. Our company staff cried so much when they heard about it. We were in the midst of shooting something when we heard the news and cried that we had to delay the shoot for 30 minutes.". Although 'It's okay did not manage to get #1 on music shows, they manage to get a humble #2 with the title track, becoming the group's biggest achievement since debut in 2012.

Later that year, BTOB made a comeback with 'Way Back Home', which also topped charts and finally got the #1 win on a cable channel, Show Champion. The boys were sad as Sungjae wasn't there with them when they got their first win as he has prior commitments.(the background picture is from their first win) The fandom even doubted that Sungjae was about to leave the group as he was the sole member that has lots of work under him to promote BTOB, the consequence of being the face of the group. He quickly reassured the fans that he is not leaving and he promised that there will be no more stage performances that BTOB will perform as 6 members.BTOB's first win

In 2016, they released their third ballad series, 'Remember That', and was the very first song of BTOB to get a #1 win on public broadcast channel, marking the group's very first win after 1480 days since deut, and also becoming the longest group to bag a #1 win at that time.

In the next following comebacks, BTOB released dance tracks, 'I'll be Your Man' and 'Movie', which both did well and consistently made the fandom stronger with more varieties that show off their skills, such as Masked Singer, Immortal Song and Fantastic Duo. In addition, the members' skills in writing and composing continuously foster the group's position as one of most remarkably skilled groups in the idol industry.

In the latest release of 'Missing You', BTOB made their biggest achievement ever. With 88 hours #1 on real time charts, BTOB also swept all major award shows with 7 wins and won a Bonsang in SMA. All these when the group is already in their 7th year. (Credits to @Meltagon_10)

Behind BTOB's success lies the efforts of the company, staff, and as well their fandom, Melody. Without the trust that Cube Entertaiment has given to them, they will not be able to reach this far. The company and the boys could have given up as luck wasn't at their side during the start, but they did not. They may have found fame a little bit late unlike the others who started at the same year as them, but they find it a humbling experience as they have seen the hardships and the growth of them and the fandom. It just made them tougher and the love that they had for each other extends more than being just workmates, the main reason why their second full album was entitled as 'Brother Act'.
